His career started in 1985 as a lecturer for a private educational company, at that time known as Studiecentrum Bijzondere Cursussen (SBC).

Later this company became a part of the Elsevier publishing group in Amsterdam. The lecturing involved many aspects of the Process industry, mainly focussing on Oil Refineries and Refining aspects.

Ton also acted as an author, developing process manuals for the operations of the refinery process plants.

Ton joined Det Norske Veritas Petroleum Services in 1996 as a Technical Adviser. Ton still today organises Training Programmes, which could be tailor made, to increase the awareness of (residual) fuel oil management related matters.

Ton is currently in the final stages of a MBA programme study.
